Miami: Coral Castle

Two weeks ago we headed to Homestead, FL to visit Coral castle. I knew nothing about said place other than people took pretty pictures there. Needless to say I didn’t know what to expect.

With the word castle I was expecting a huge place – it isn’t.

We discovered this place because of Groupon; admission for four adults was $33.00 – not bad at all.

This place was so much more than expected. Our Groupon covered a tour guide and what he guided us through was a nice surprise; he guided us though the story behind the castle, when it was built, who built it, how he built it, and why he built it. It’s lovely and extremely romantic story, all which he swears is true and its not hard to believe. But I wont spoil it for you (it ends in tragedy).

We really enjoyed the storyline and the castles hidden magical wonders were truly a treat. It was a little hot when we went but they provide umbrellas for the tour. The one thing I did expect was to take lovely pictures and I wasn’t disappointed.

This is a map of the area. Its small, but full of things to see.

Below is the entrance. Keep in mind the entrance to the whole attraction was previous, including a little snack shop and gift store.

The whole point of this place is the amazing architecture one man designed, which has lasted and survived many many years. The picture below show the planets he created.. you’d have to go to the tour to find out the meaning of them 🙂 🙂

Bellow is what has now become somewhat of a wishing well. However, it had a different purpose when it was initially designed.

The table crafted below is in the shape of a heart! So cute!

Below you see us at the top of a flight of stairs that lead to the home of the mastermind behind this castle.

Miami: Gator Park

We spent our sunny Sunday at Gator Park with our other halfs and our little mini’s. We purchased a Groupon which consisted of a boat ride through the everglades. We saw a few gators, turtles, birds, and other fishes. The boat was extreeeemely loud they even give you earplugs, but it was nice being outdoors despite the beating sun.

After the boat ride there was a short show of alligators which was pretty interesting. They also had a little cute park with other animals there as well.

It was a nice time out, we stopped my Texas Roadhouse on Flagler to eat.
Definitely recommend if you’re looking for something different to do!
